Thomas Miller founded Symphony X with Michael Romeo in 1994, having met him in the mid-1980s, and played bass on the early records — Symphony X, The Damnation Game, The Divine Wings Of Tragedy. This eponymous album is the first from the project he has started since, and Sensory Records issue it on CD, vinyl and digital on 30 October 2026. Its origin is a 2017 session with the singer Hollywood How Portney; Miller has said the chemistry of that recording is what sent him back to writing, and Portney sings here throughout. Romeo guests on guitar and Michael Pinnella on keyboards, and Eric Rachel, who engineered the first six Symphony X albums, mixed and mastered. Eight tracks run about forty-nine minutes and close with "Sailing To Utopia", a piece in five parts. The advance track is "When Darkness Falls", which Miller describes as the most direct metal song on the record, shadowed by the classical colour of its harmonic minor writing. Separately, diskunion handle a Japanese-obi import pressing, SR3094OBI, from 4 December 2026.
