Thin Lizzy's 1976 is a box set built around the two studio albums the band released that year, Jailbreak in March and Johnny The Fox in October, with a year's worth of related recordings across five CDs and a Blu-ray. The first two discs carry both albums as first released and in new stereo mixes made by Richard Whittaker under Scott Gorham's supervision and mastered by Andy Pearce; the third and fourth hold outtakes and BBC sessions for each album, and the fifth an unreleased concert recorded in Cleveland, Ohio on 11 May 1976. The Blu-ray is audio only and holds Atmos and new stereo mixes of both albums. The ten-inch box comes with a 40-page hardback in which Mark Blake supplies the notes alongside rare photographs. Jailbreak, the album that produced "The Boys Are Back In Town", reached number 18 in the United States and number 10 in Britain, and Johnny The Fox, with "Don't Believe A Word", reached number 11 in Britain. The box came out worldwide on 27 September 2024, and Universal Music Japan released it the same day as a limited Japanese edition on SHM-CD, UICY-80527, with translated notes and lyrics — 84 tracks, about five hours and 47 minutes.
