Leviathan III closes the trilogy Therion began in 2021. The Swedish band formed in 1987 around guitarist and singer Christofer Johnsson and were playing death metal when they debuted with Of Darkness… in 1991; orchestration and choirs came in boldly afterwards, and Theli in 1996, sung by a choir of more than ten, became a landmark of symphonic metal. The Leviathan records put what listeners want ahead of what the band feel like making, which for them is the harder discipline, and this last one is again full of the interplay between growled and female voices that nobody else writes. The Japanese edition adds four tracks: "Counter Points a Cappella" and three takes on "Winter Cape". Ward Records released it on 15 December 2023 as GQCS-91411. Fifteen tracks, about sixty-three minutes.
