Cut live onto analog tape in about ten hours at Finnvox Studios, with no computers involved, The Sound Of Absent Life is the debut album of Finnish epic doom band The Solitude. Ensiferum's Janne Parviainen formed the group more than 30 years ago and it started out on Candlemass covers; Aleksi Parviainen's own songs later convinced former HIM member Mika "Gas Lipstick" Karppinen that it was time to bring it back. Aleksi sings, Janne plays drums, Ville Pelkonen bass and Karppinen guitar. The band produced the record themselves, with Hiili Hiilesmaa mixing and Mika Jussila mastering. Reaper Entertainment and Ward Records (GQCS-91742) both released the ten-track album on 3 April 2026, and the lead single "Ruins Of The Fallen Stars" has an official music video.
