Give Us the Moon is a Night Flight Orchestra record, which means the Swedish band are once again some distance from the melodic death metal and heavy metal their members play elsewhere. Bjorn Strid of Soilwork sings and Sharlee D'Angelo of Arch Enemy plays bass, and what the band have always set out to do is bring the melodies and songwriting of 1970s and 1980s rock back into the present rather than quote them. Thirteen tracks and fifty-nine minutes: synthesizers carrying the tunes, a disco pulse under some of it, a power ballad or two, and never quite settling into either nostalgia or novelty. Napalm Records released it on 31 January 2025; Marquee Avalon had the Japanese CD (MICP-11936) out two days earlier on 29 January, with a commentary booklet and translated lyrics. Three songs have official videos and the title track a lyric video.
