Overdriver is the second album The Hellacopters have made since coming back, and it landed on 31 January 2025 through Nuclear Blast, with Trooper Entertainment issuing the Japanese CD (QATE-10149) the same day. The Swedish band started in 1994 around Nicke Andersson of Entombed and Dregen of Backyard Babies, debuted in 1996, announced a split in 2007, put out a seventh album in February 2008 and played a farewell show at home that October. Live reunions followed for years before the band made it official in April 2022 with Eyes of Oblivion, their first record in fourteen years. Andersson, who also keeps Imperial State Electric and Lucifer going, plays guitar and sings; Robert Eriksson drums, Anders "Boba" Lindstrom handles keyboards and guitar, and Dolf de Borst of The Datsuns, Andersson's bandmate in Imperial State Electric, plays bass. The Japanese pressing adds a commentary booklet, translated lyrics and two bonus tracks. Three songs have music videos.
