The Healer is an album by Sumac, the trio of Aaron Turner on guitar and vocals — of Isis and Old Man Gloom — with Brian Cook of Russian Circles on bass and Nick Yacyshyn of Baptists on drums. The record proper is four pieces across seventy-six minutes, and it does not sag: the writing takes heavy rock apart and puts it back together, and it holds its tension the way progressive rock records once did. Scott Evans, who leads Kowloon Walled City and has mixed the band's live sound, recorded it. Daymare Recordings put the Japanese edition out first, on 19 June 2024 as DYMC415, with the international release following on 21 June; the Japanese disc adds a reprise of the opening piece — five tracks, about an hour and twenty minutes.
