LINER NOTES
Greatest Hits Relaunched is a sixteen-track set of re-recorded Starship hits, with covers of a Journey song and a Kansas song, sung by Mickey Thomas. Purple Pyramid Records, part of Cleopatra Records, first released it in the United States on 29 October 2021 as CD CLO2552CD; Marquee Inc.'s Japanese edition, on its Avalon label, is an SHM-CD dated 7 October 2026 (MICP-30246, JPY 3,500 including tax) with the same sixteen tracks in the same order and nothing added. The songs follow Thomas's own career. He sang lead on Elvin Bishop's "Fooled Around and Fell in Love", a number three Billboard hit in 1976, and sings it again here. In 1979 he replaced Marty Balin in Jefferson Starship, and six songs that charted for that band between 1979 and 1984 appear: "Jane", "Find Your Way Back", "Stranger", "Winds of Change", "No Way Out" and "Laying It On The Line". He stayed when the settlement of Paul Kantner's lawsuit over the name made the band Starship in 1985, and from that period come the three Hot 100 number ones that open the album, "We Built This City", "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" and "Sara", along with "It's Not Over ('Til It's Over)", "It's Not Enough" and "Wild Again" from the film Cocktail. The two covers come last: "Don't Stop Believin'", a Journey song, then "Carry On My Wayward Son" by Kansas. On its product page Marquee gives the line-up as Thomas on vocals, Jeff Adams on bass and vocals, Mark Abrahamian on guitar, Phil Bennett on keyboards and Darrell Verdusco on drums.
