The Arsonist is the new album by Sodom, who stand with Destruction and Kreator as one of the three great German thrash bands. Steamhammer released it on 27 June 2025, two days after Marquee Inc. put the Japanese edition on sale on 25 June. It is the first record since Forty Years at War - The Greatest Hell of Sodom, the set that marked the band's fortieth anniversary three years earlier. All four members wrote for it, the drums went to a 24-track analogue tape machine, and no studio processing or digital overdubbing was used; Zbigniew M. Bielak, whose work has appeared for Ghost and Mayhem, drew the sleeve. Japan gets two pressings, both with liner notes and translated lyrics: a single disc as MICP-11970, and a limited two-disc edition, MICP-90129, whose second disc carries all five tracks of the 2023 EP 1982 along with a booklet.
