Adrian Smith of Iron Maiden and Richie Kotzen of The Winery Dogs made Black Light / White Noise at THE HOUSE in Los Angeles, producing it themselves and handing the mix to Jay Ruston; it is their second studio album together, after Smith/Kotzen in 2021. British hard rock and R&B-rooted blues sit underneath a record that plays as contemporary rock rather than revival. Universal Music Japan released the Japanese pressing (UICB-15001) on 4 April 2025 as an SHM-CD in a cardboard sleeve, with translated lyrics and a commentary booklet, and it runs to twelve tracks: the ten of the international edition plus "All the Way Down" and "The Grind" as Japanese bonus tracks. "White Noise" and "Black Light" have official videos, "Blindsided" and "Outlaw" lyric videos, and "Wraith" an official audio release.
