The Shifting Tectonic Plates of Power - Part One is the second Sky Empire album and the first to be released in Japan. The British band formed in London in 2016; guitarist Drazic Lecutier's debt to the late Dimebag Darrell runs through the heavy, melodic riffing, and the rest of what they draw on is wide — Deep Purple, Rainbow, Yes, Rush, Journey, Iron Maiden, Pantera, Dream Theater, Symphony X — arriving at something that also speaks to listeners who follow Tesseract, Haken and Vola. Shortly after their 2018 debut The Dark Tower, their singer Yordan Ivanov died in tragic circumstances and the band stopped; they eventually restarted around Lecutier, and for this record brought in Jeff Scott Soto, of Yngwie Malmsteen's band, Talisman, W.E.T. and Sons of Apollo. Bickee Music released the Japanese-packaged import on 27 October 2023 as BKMY-1136. Seven tracks.
