A Fortress Called Home is the fourth album by Seven Spires, the band four students started at Berklee College of Music, and it pushes furthest yet at what they do: symphonic, extreme and progressive metal moving through one another inside a single song. Adrienne Cowan, who sings, has said she went through two bereavements while it was being made and cannot tell whether the album came out of the loss or caused it. It is also the last record Chris Dovas, now the drummer in Testament, played on. Frontiers and Ward Records in Japan released it on the same day, 21 June 2024, the Japanese edition as GQCS-91475. The international CD holds twelve songs; the Japanese disc adds an acoustic version of "House of Lies" for thirteen, about an hour and nine minutes.
