Scour is Philip H. Anselmo's black metal and grindcore project, and after a decade of EPs Gold is its first full-length. Thirteen songs go by in thirty-seven minutes, most of them two or three minutes long, with the cold atmosphere of one genre and the blunt force of the other kept in the same room. The line-up behind Anselmo is drawn from Pig Destroyer, Misery Index and Agoraphobic Nosebleed — Derek Engemann and Mark Kloeppel on guitars, John Jarvis on bass, Adam Jarvis on drums, all four contributing vocals. Gary Holt of Exodus plays a guest solo on "Coin", and Jens Bogren mastered the record. Nuclear Blast released it abroad and Ward Records put the Japanese CD (GQCS-91556) out the same day, 21 February 2025, with a commentary booklet and translated lyrics. Two songs have music videos and "Coin" a visualizer.
