The Shadow Inside is the first Sadus album in seventeen years. The legendary American death and thrash band formed in 1985, and the demos they made in 1986 and 1987 -- unheard-of in their speed at the time -- are treated as cult documents of the moment thrash and death metal met. The bassist on them was Steve DiGiorgio, later of Death and Testament. They debuted with Illusions in 1988; after signing to Roadrunner, Swallowed in Black (1990) and A Vision of Misery (1992) landed in the middle of the death metal boom and were much talked about. Things slowed after Out for Blood in 2006 and they announced a break-up in 2015, only to return in 2017; a deal with Nuclear Blast led to this. The sheer speed, Darren Travis's distinctive voice, technicality kept in proportion -- all of it is exactly as it was. Ward Records released it on 17 November 2023 as GQCS-91402. Ten tracks, about forty-seven minutes.
