Ronnie Romero's Backbone came out on 24 October 2025 through Frontiers Music, and Ward Records released it in Japan the same day (GQCS-91686) with a Japanese booklet, translated lyrics and a Japan-only acoustic version of "Eternally", eleven tracks in about 44 minutes. A singer whose credits include Rainbow and the Michael Schenker Group, Romero produced the album himself, while his guitarist José Rubio mixed and mastered it and, Romero says, helped with the songwriting. Roy Z co-wrote "Eternally", and "Hideaway" grew from an idea Russ Ballard sent after Romero proposed a song linking their Rainbow histories; Kee Marcello plays its solo and Ballard sings backing vocals. Frontiers' video credits name Chris Allan on drums, Alessandro Bertoni on keyboards and piano, and Jiri Rambousek on guitar in "Running Over". The label presents Backbone as the follow-up to Too Many Lies, Too Many Masters, his first solo album of original songs, and two covers albums, and its channel carries videos for "Backbone", "Eternally" and "Hideaway".
