Queen I is the 1973 debut album Queen, remixed, remastered and retitled more than fifty years on — the first Queen album ever to be newly mixed in stereo, the work of Justin Shirley-Smith, Joshua J Macrae and Kris Fredriksson. CD1 restores the running order the band had originally planned, putting Mad the Swine back as track four where they had intended it in 1972 before it was left off the LP. CD2 holds the De Lane Lea demos recorded before the album sessions, CD3 sequences previously unreleased takes in album order, CD4 is the backing tracks without lead vocals, CD5 gathers four BBC sessions including the February 1973 recording made for John Peel's programme, and CD6 is live material built around the March 1974 headline show at the Rainbow Theatre in London, including the first official release of Hangman — a staple of their early sets that was never recorded in a studio — taken from a San Diego show in March 1976. The 6CD and 1LP set runs to sixty-three tracks, forty-three of them new mixes, with a 108-page book; the Japanese edition is on SHM-CD and limited to 1,500 sets. Universal Music released the Collector's Edition, UICY-80529, on 25 October 2024 and the two-disc Deluxe Edition, UICY-80530, on 13 November.
