LINER NOTES
The Story Of My Life collects Phil Lynott's solo recordings on eight CDs; the singer, bassist and songwriter of Thin Lizzy died in 1986, and Mercury gives the box a release date of 30 October 2026 (7573300). Nick Sharp, the archivist behind Thin Lizzy's recent reissues, put it together with the co-operation of Lynott's estate; the sleeve bills him as Philip Lynott, and Mark Blake wrote the booklet essay, which is illustrated with photographs and memorabilia.
Disc one is Solo In Soho (1980) and disc three The Philip Lynott Album (1982). Between them sits Fatalistic Attitude, the second solo album as it stood when it was readied for January 1982: Vertigo judged it too dark, and the reworked record became The Philip Lynott Album that September. It follows the running order of Lynott's own acetate and includes "Somebody Else's Dream" and "Hate", which disc three does not. Discs four and five gather non-album mixes, B-sides and guest appearances, among them "Parisienne Walkways" and "Out In The Fields" with Gary Moore; discs six and seven are demos, including Grand Slam's; disc eight holds rehearsals for his 1982 solo tour, for ninety-eight tracks in all. Louder counts twenty-nine previously unreleased songs among them, one of them "Can't Get Away", recorded with Huey Lewis weeks before Lynott's death and the first song shared from the set. Fatalistic Attitude also has its own single-LP edition (7573319) with the same release date. There is no Japanese edition; the import is sold in Japan.
