Science, Not Fiction is the tenth album by Orange Goblin, who have been one of the defining British doom metal and stoner rock bands since forming in 1995 and who played a sold-out Japanese tour in 2024, their first in twenty-five years. The record marks their return to the Avalon label; it was made at Woodworm Studios in England in the second half of 2023 with Mike Exeter producing and mixing, and pushes further into psychedelic depth and progressive weight. The band is Ben Ward on vocals, Joe Hoare on guitar, Harry Armstrong on bass and Chris Turner on drums. Of the third single, "The Fire at the Centre of the Earth Is Mine", Ward said it was a very typical Orange Goblin song — uptempo, melodic and instantly catchy, with all the ingredients of classic heavy metal. Peaceville released the album on 19 July 2024; Marquee's Avalon imprint followed on 24 July with MICP-11898, adding a tenth track, "Eye of the Minotaur", as a bonus.
