The Force is the second album Onslaught, the originators of British thrash, put out in 1986, brought back on SHM-CD in 2024. Sy Keeler came in on vocals for it because the band wanted a more metallic sound, and the thrash that resulted — sharper, more aggressive, better finished — reached further than the debut had. For a band that had been running since the early 1980s around Nige Rocket on guitar and Steve Grice on drums, this is one version of arrived. Given how far the third album, In Search of Sanity, leaned towards power metal, it is no surprise that listeners who prefer the hardcore-and-thrash side keep naming this one and the debut. It had gone a long time without a Japanese edition; here are its seven songs on SHM-CD. Marquee Inc. issued it on 21 February 2024. Seven tracks, about forty-five minutes.
