Electric Dreams is a solo album by Nicklas Sonne, the Danish multi-instrumentalist, released by Frontiers Records on 27 June 2025; Ward Records put the Japanese edition out the same day as GQCS-91639, with translated lyrics, a Japanese essay and one bonus track exclusive to it. Sonne plays in the progressive metal band Defecto and the symphonic metal band Aries Descendant and has appeared on records by Hank Shermann of Mercyful Fate; with Defecto he first played Japan in 2017 and has opened for Metallica and Rammstein. He calls the album a journey back into whatever first moved him musically, and the sound it arrives at — the spirit of older hard rock put through the recording methods of today — nostalgic and new in the same breath. Thirteen tracks, played and sung by him across a stack of instruments, rebuild the texture of 1980s hard rock.
