Shout at the Devil (40th Anniversary) marks forty years since Mötley Crüe's second album, the record that arguably defined what hard rock and heavy metal would look like for the rest of the decade. The band had formed in Los Angeles in 1981 and came up fast on the strength of how they looked and how they behaved on stage; this album put them in the US top twenty and went four times platinum. Its original sleeve — a black inverted pentagram, released at the height of the Satanic Panic — caused enough trouble that the CD was reissued with a photograph of the band instead. This edition restores the pentagram on a paper sleeve replicating the LP jacket, the first time it has been packaged that way anywhere in the world. A limited picture-disc LP appeared alongside it, and a super deluxe box set with two LPs, two 7-inch singles, a CD, a cassette and a good deal of paraphernalia. BMG released all three on 27 October 2023. The CD runs eleven tracks.
