Syv

Syv is the seventh album by Mork, the black metal project Thomas Eriksen started in Halden, Norway in 2004; the title is Norwegian for seven. It was a side project at first, and since the debut album Isebakke in 2013 a steady run of records and touring has made Mork one of the names people reach for when they talk about recent Norwegian black metal. The album keeps a melancholy streak running under brutal, sometimes progressive riffing. Eriksen played, recorded and mixed it himself, assisted in engineering by Freddy Holm, who also contributed strings and synthesiser; Maor Appelbaum mastered it together with Jack Control of Enormous Door. Peaceville Records released it on 20 September 2024 and it reached Japan on 9 October as an import prepared for Japanese distribution, CDVILEF1167J. Nine tracks.
