III

Mattador are a melodic hard rock band from Puerto Rico, and III is the album their reunion produced. The group ran from 1988 to 1995; the original members regrouped in 2022. Frontiers Music Srl announced the signing in October 2025 and marked it by reissuing the 1994 album Save Us From Ourselves digitally for the first time. III followed on 19 June 2026. The line-up is Michael Villegas on lead vocals and acoustic guitar, Carlos Benitez on drums, percussion and vocals, Miguel "Tito" Rodriguez on guitar and violin, and Abraham Millett, who the band say toured with Third Eye Blind, on bass and keyboards. Benitez produced the record and Bob St. John, whose credits include Extreme, Dokken and Collective Soul, co-produced, engineered and mixed it; Benitez has said they aimed for an organic production rather than the standard sound of releases today. Videos preceded the album for "Black Water" on 23 March 2026 and "Levitate" on 8 May 2026, and "Out for Blood" was given an official visualizer at release. The Japanese edition appeared the same day on Avalon / Marquee Inc. and adds an acoustic version of "Whispers on the Wind". Thirteen songs on the Japanese edition, twelve elsewhere.
