Martyr have been going in the Netherlands since 1982, and Dark Believer is their first album in three years, the Japanese label notes. ROAR released it on 15 August 2025, the same day Ward Records issued the Japanese edition, GQCS-91641, nine tracks in about 47 minutes with a booklet and translated lyrics. The Japanese label's account: a run of demos, then the debut For the Universe in 1985 and Darkness at Time's Edge the following year, two records it counts among the defining Dutch metal albums of the 1980s; a break-up in 1989; a reunion in 2005; three albums since. It also notes that the mayor of Utrecht, the band's home city, honoured them in 2018 for their contribution to music. The title track was the first single, and the band said it grew darker and more mysterious as the writing and recording went on. Videos for "Dark Believer", "Wrath of the Fallen" and "Legions of the Cross" are on the label's channel.
