Metal Hammer placed Do Not Go to War With the Demons of Mazandaran second in its progressive metal albums of 2024, behind Opeth and ahead of Nightwish. The British duo Lowen build extreme, slow-moving doom out of a heavy churning groove with a powerful voice carrying Middle Eastern melody over the top. Church Road Records released it on 4 October 2024; P-Vine Records issued the Japanese CD (PCD-25463) on 5 March 2025 with a commentary booklet, adding the three tracks of the 2021 EP Unceasing Lamentations — made with chanting, daf and shruti box and acoustic guitar alone — as Japanese bonus tracks, for nine in all. Four songs from the album have official music videos.
