Becoming Led Zeppelin

Pony Canyon's Japanese two-disc Blu-ray and DVD edition of Becoming Led Zeppelin, the 2025 documentary directed by Bernard MacMahon. It is the first film the band have sanctioned, and it stays with their beginnings: the four-piece Jimmy Page assembled in 1968 while still in the Yardbirds, the group's first two official tours, and the making of the self-titled debut and its follow-up. Nobody outside the band narrates. Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones speak for themselves, and John Bonham, who died in 1980 at thirty-two, is heard in previously unreleased interview recordings; family photographs, private footage and early concert film carry the rest, and performances run as whole songs rather than clips. MacMahon wrote the film with its producer Allison McGourty, Vern Moen shot it and Dan Gitlin edited it. The film opened in Japanese cinemas on 26 September 2025. The feature runs 122 minutes, and the Blu-ray adds six minutes of extras, the Japanese trailer and a comment from the director, in Dolby TrueHD 5.1 and LPCM 2.0. Subtitles on both discs are Japanese only. Pony Canyon issue it on 30 September 2026 as PCXP-51240, beside a 4K UHD + Blu-ray set and a collector's edition.
