Lacuna Coil's Sleepless Empire reached Japanese shops two days before it reached anyone else's: Marquee Incorporated issued the CD (MICP-11932) on 12 February 2025, Century Media released the album on 14 February. The band have been Italy's best-known gothic metal band for a quarter of a century and the shape has not changed — Andrea Ferro and Cristina Scabbia trading and overlapping across eleven tracks and forty-seven minutes. Randy Blythe of Lamb of God guests on "Hosting the Shadow" and Ash Costello of New Years Day on "In The Mean Time". The label describes the record as being about people caught inside a social-media-shaped digital world and trying to claw themselves back out of it. Six songs have videos, five of them music videos and "In Nomine Patris" a lyric video. The Japanese pressing carries a commentary booklet and translated lyrics.
