Journey to the Sun

Journey to the Sun is the first Kilmara album in seven years. The Spanish band have been going for a quarter of a century if you count Jadde, the group they came out of; the present name dates from 2003, and after a run of demos they debuted with Hunting Dreams in 2007, then Don't Fear the Wolf in 2010, Love Songs and Other Nightmares on Sony Music in 2014 and Across the Realm of Time in 2018. The change that matters most here is the arrival of guitarist Carles Salse, who has a studio of his own. The songs range from European power metal to something closer to melodic heavy metal, Swedish singer Daniel Heiman, known from Lost Horizon, guests on the ninth track, and Seeb Levermann of Orden Ogan mastered the record. ROAR released it worldwide on 31 January 2025, with Ward Records issuing the Japanese CD (GQCS-91477) the same day, carrying a commentary booklet, translated lyrics and a bonus track exclusive to Japan.
