The Sea Of Emotion

The Sea Of Emotion is the first full-length studio album Joe Satriani and Steve Vai have recorded together, issued under the name SatchVai by earMUSIC on 6 November 2026. The three-part title suite is the core of the record and goes back to a school field in Carle Place where the pair dreamed about music as teenagers; its third part opens with an old reel-to-reel tape of one of Vai's lessons with Satriani. Those lessons started on Long Island in 1973, when Vai was 13 and his teacher 17. Decades of solo careers and G3 tours later, a G3 reunion tour left a gap in both schedules, and the idea of a single track grew into an album once Satriani sent Vai the finished first and second parts of the suite. Eric Caudieux produced and played keyboards. The rhythm section comes from longtime collaborators, among them drummers Gregg Bissonette, Jeremy Colson, Kenny Aronoff, Matt Chamberlain and Mike Mangini and bassists Billy Sheehan, Bryan Beller, Philip Bynoe, Matt Bissonette, Marco Mendoza and Henrik Linder, while Glenn Hughes sings on "I Wanna Play My Guitar". Four of the ten tracks came out ahead of the album, each with a video on earMUSIC's channel: "The Sea Of Emotion, Pt. 1" in March 2024, directed by Z.Z. Satriani; "I Wanna Play My Guitar" in May 2025; "Dancing" in March 2026; and the instrumental "Mayhem", released with the announcement on 2 September 2026. The CD comes in a digipak (0221639EMU) and the vinyl as a gatefold double LP on black vinyl. No Japanese edition has been announced.
