Roots & Shoots, Vol. 1 is the fourth World Stage record made by Jim Peterik -- the founder of Survivor, who wrote "Eye of the Tiger" and "Burning Heart" and now leads Pride of Lions -- with a long list of guests. It was cut with players based in Chicago and is the first of a two-part work in which the veterans are the Roots and the newer generation the Shoots. The names here include Kevin Cronin of REO Speedwagon, Don Barnes of 38 Special, Kelly Keagy of Night Ranger and Mark Farner of Grand Funk Railroad, with his son Colin Peterik taking a lead of his own. The Japanese edition adds an acoustic version of "Fire and Water". Marquee Inc. released it on 12 January 2024. Eleven tracks, about forty-seven minutes.
