LINER NOTES
At the Mercy of the Wind is the debut album by Imperatus, a black metal band from northern Vietnam. Its starting point is the Nordic black metal of the late 1990s, and what it does with it is hold two things together at once — a brutal, frozen surface and melodies and structures that are closer to the classical end of the style — over a record whose subject is the history of devil worship. Rêvasseur guests on the eighth song, "Embers of Hatred". It appeared at home on 15 March 2024 and Hidden Marly Production in Japan issued it on CD on 3 April as HMP-095. Nine tracks, about thirty-two minutes. The band put out an official video of the album played through live in Hanoi on 19 July 2024.
