Palace for the People

Palace for the People is Greta Van Fleet's first album since 2023's Starcatcher, out on Republic Records on 9 October 2026; Universal Music Japan's SHM-CD edition, UICY-16536, follows on 14 October, a date moved from the 9th. The title goes back to the band's 2022 world tour and a show at London's Alexandra Palace, where a friend told them the Victorian building had first been called the Palace of the People and was built for the public rather than for royalty or the rich. Josh Kiszka (vocals), his brothers Jake (guitar) and Sam (bass, keyboards) and drummer Danny Wagner made the record in spring 2026 at their studio in Tennessee, co-producing it with Mike Elizondo (Turnstile, Eminem, Fiona Apple). They kept those months clear of touring and press, and set unfinished demos and half-written songs beside new ones; Jake Kiszka describes it as rock and roll at root but modern in spirit. "Play Your Games", which grew out of an early demo the band came across in its own archive, arrived with a video on 29 May 2026, the week of a Bowery Ballroom show in New York that was their first concert since September 2024. "Saw You Stand" came with the album announcement on 31 July, a trailer followed in August, and "Tear It Down", the second of the thirteen tracks, appeared with a visualizer on 18 September. Japanese first-come bonuses are a sticker at most shops, an A4 clear file at Tower Records and, for this Amazon.co.jp edition, a mega jacket. The import CD and a 2LP are dated 9 October.
