Decay

Decay is the tenth Godflesh album, made by Justin K. Broadrick and Ben Green. Relapse Records issues it on 25 September 2026 and Daymare Recordings brings the Japanese edition on 7 October as DYMC435. Broadrick wrote, played and produced it at his own Avalanche Studio. All six songs came out of the same sessions as Purge in 2023: he picked what suited that record from one large pool of material and meant to release the rest within a year, but gave up on self-releasing, spent two years finding a label, and reworked the songs considerably once he came back to them. "Master and Slave" at 8:46 and the closing "Consume Me" at 11:38 account for close to half the running time between them, and Broadrick treats those two as the conceptual core of the record. This is the penultimate Godflesh album. In February 2026 Broadrick underwent open surgery for a large inguinal hernia, and afterwards said that the way he has to shout in this band had been the main cause of it for years — which is why Godflesh will not play live again. The recording, vocals included, was finished well before the operation; only the mixing happened after it. One more album remains to be recorded, and Godflesh ends there, leaving Jesu and JK Flesh to carry on. It closes out a band that, from its start in 1988, helped set the template for industrial metal. "Living/Ending" appeared ahead of the album.
