Opera is the sixth album by Fleshgod Apocalypse and their first in five years. The Italian band formed in 2007 and made their album debut two years later with Oracles on England's Candlelight Records before Nuclear Blast took them on; the combination of technical death metal with orchestral arrangement has been theirs ever since. Francesco Paoli, who sings and plays guitar, has also worked on records by Kreator and Epica. This one takes its title seriously: choirs and operatic voices run through it, set against blast beats and playing that is heavy and technical in equal measure. The line-up is Paoli, Francesco Ferrini on piano, Veronica Bordacchini on vocals, Fabio Bartoletti on guitar and Eugene Ryabchenko on drums — ten tracks, about 43 minutes. It came out on 23 August 2024, with Ward Records issuing the Japanese edition, GQCS-91488, the same day.
