LINER NOTES
Necrophony is the first Exmortus album in five years and their first for Nuclear Blast. The Californian extreme metal band go back to 2002; after a run of demos and EPs they signed to Heavy Artillery Records and made their album debut with In Hatred's Flame in 2008, keeping up a steady line of records from Beyond the Fall of Time in 2011 to The Sound of Steel in 2018. What they play is hard to file: technical thrash reaching into death metal and, more than once, into neoclassical writing, with melodic riffs and fast twin-guitar solos threaded through very heavy songs. The line-up is Jadran "Conan" Gonzalez on vocals and guitar, Chase Becker on guitar, Philip Cody Nuñez on bass and Adrian Aguilera on drums. Nuclear Blast released it on 25 August 2023 and Ward Records' Japanese edition, with a Japanese essay and translated lyrics, on 6 October as GQCS-91381. Twelve tracks.
