LINER NOTES
Ànv is the first Eluveitie album in six years, after Ategnatos in 2019. The Swiss band formed in 2002 and made their debut with Spirit in 2006, startling the scene with the sheer quantity of folk instruments — Irish flute, bagpipes, fiddle, hurdy-gurdy — that they played alongside extreme metal; Nuclear Blast has been their home since Slania in 2008. Here the new violinist Lea-Sophie Fischer joins Celtic harp, bagpipes, mandolin and whistles across every track, with growled and clean female vocals set against each other. The line-up is Chrigel Glanzmann (vocals, whistles, mandola), Fabienne Erni (vocals, harp), Fischer, Matteo Sisti (bagpipes, whistles, uilleann pipes), guitarists Jonas Wolf and Rafael Salzmann, bassist Kay Brem and drummer Alain Ackermann. Ward Records issued the Japanese CD (GQCS-91608) on 25 April 2025 with translated lyrics and a commentary booklet. Twelve tracks.
