State of Mind is the fourth Elegy album, first released in 1997, reissued here in a 2024 remaster. The Dutch band built a following in Japan early on for melodic power metal shot through with odd time signatures, and this was the first record they made with their second singer, Ian Parry, after Eduard Hovinga, who sang on the first three, left. It produced "Shadow Dancer" and "Trust" and is generally taken as the album that established them. Elegy stopped after Principles Of Pain in 2002, reunited in 2023 with a line-up that included the songwriter Henk van der Laars, and put a remaster of this album out digitally on 4 June 2023. Marquee released the Japanese edition on 25 September 2024 as an SHM-CD, MICP-30186, carrying the 2024 remaster and four bonus tracks — "Sweet Revenge" and demos of "Trust", "Shadow Dancer" and "Suppression" — fifteen tracks in all, about an hour and three minutes.
