Through Zero

The seventh album by Elder, the heavy psychedelic / stoner rock band formed around 2006 in a small coastal town in Massachusetts. They later added a guitarist to become a four-piece and have moved most of their base from the United States to Germany. This is their first record in roughly three and a half years, following Innate Passage in November 2022, released on 29 May 2026 by Blues Funeral Recordings in North America, Stickman Records in Europe and Bird's Robe in Australia. It was recorded in Berlin between legs of their 2025 touring, with Richard Behrens engineering at Big Snuff Studio and Fabien de Menou handling additional recording; Behrens and the band mixed it, Carl Saff mastered it and Adam Hill made the artwork. The line-up is Nicholas DiSalvo on guitar, vocals and synthesiser, Michael Risberg on guitar, Rhodes piano and slide, Jack Donovan on bass and Georg Edert on drums and percussion. Six songs run about fifty-four minutes. The band explain the title as a term from audio engineering, describing a frequency that passes through zero and carries on into the negative. A video for "Capture/Release" and a visualiser for the title track came out ahead of it.
