This is the thirtieth-anniversary reissue of Purgatory Afterglow, the 1994 fourth album by the Swedish death metal band Edge of Sanity, a record widely held to be the high point of a catalogue that did much to create and shape melodic death metal. Disc one carries the original mix in a 2024 remaster and disc two an entirely new 2024 remix, both handled by Dan Swanö, the band's central figure and a noted engineer in his own right. Each disc follows the ten album tracks with the four songs of the contemporaneous EP Until Eternity Ends, fourteen in all, and both include "Black Tears", the band's best-known song and one Heaven Shall Burn among others have covered. Century Media released the two-CD edition on 21 June 2024; Marquee Inc. issued the Japanese version on 24 July as a two-disc SHM-CD set, MICP-30188.
