It Beckons Us All....... is the album Darkthrone made after Astral Fortress, and the work of the same two people as ever — Fenriz and Nocturno Culto, who have been defining Norwegian black metal since the early 1990s. Their 1991 debut was death metal; they turned in 1992 with A Blaze In The Northern Sky, and the three records that followed are the ground most black metal still stands on. What they have been writing in recent years pulls in doom, epic metal and the heavy metal of the 1980s, slower and heavier than the early records, and this one continues from there: seven songs, several of them long, built to advance rather than to race. Peaceville released it on 26 April 2024 and it circulates in Japan as an import. Seven tracks, about forty-four minutes.
