The Rectory is a record by Dark Matter, a progressive hard rock band from England. It began as Dave Gilbert's solo project and became a band when Stefan Hepe, who had heard the 2015 home-recorded Dark Matter, joined on drums. Alex Perry, guitarist of the NWOBHM band Mythra, and Gary Aubert, bassist of Jersey, came in afterwards. Hepe left partway through this album and Gilbert played the drums himself. Five songs that rebuild 1970s hard rock and progressive rock -- Black Sabbath first among them -- with the hands of the new wave of British heavy metal. WormHoleDeath Japan released the Japanese edition on 31 January 2024. Five tracks, about forty-nine minutes.
