Dark Parade is the first Cirith Ungol album in three years. The Californian band formed in 1971 and are counted among the founders of doom metal; their 1981 debut Frost and Fire is the record Celtic Frost took their name from, which says most of what needs saying about its standing. King of the Dead, from 1984, is still revered as a doom classic, and after One Foot in Hell in 1986 and Paradise Lost in 1991 the band stopped in 1992 — just as, with some irony, the doom boom was beginning, which is how they became a cult name. They returned in 2015 and startled a great many people in 2020 with Forever Black, their first record in twenty-nine years. This is more of the same heavy, epic doom, with Tim Baker's extraordinary high vocals over it and Jarvis Leatherby of Night Demon on bass again. Ward Records released the Japanese edition on 20 October 2023 as GQCS-91394. Eight tracks.
