Chemicide come from Costa Rica and Violence Prevails is their fifth album, the first since they signed to the French label Listenable Records. They started in 2006 under the name Conqueror, became Chemicide in 2008, and have released a record every two or three years since Episodes of Insanity in 2015. Frankie, who leads the band on guitar and vocals, says the production they were chasing was the late-1980s and early-1990s kind — big drums, heavy bass, sharp guitars and far too much reverb — and the songs barely stop for breath. Martin Furia, the Destruction guitarist, mixed and mastered it. A Los Crudos cover sits in the album proper, and covers of Metallica's "72 Seasons" and Discharge's "Hear Nothing, See Nothing, Say Nothing" follow as bonus tracks: eleven tracks, thirty-eight minutes. Ward Records issued the Japanese CD (GQCS-91563) on 28 February 2025 with a commentary booklet and translated lyrics.
