Live 1979 is the New Year's Eve show Cheap Trick played at the Forum in Los Angeles on 31 December 1979, issued in Japan by Sony Music Labels on 3 September 2025 as a two-disc set, SICP-6706, with liner notes, lyrics and translations. The label says the tapes had only ever appeared as a Record Store Day vinyl release under the title Are You Ready? Live 12/31/1979, making this their first pressing on CD anywhere, newly remastered. Nineteen songs run about 93 minutes, from "Hello There" through "I Want You to Want Me", "Surrender" and "Dream Police", with "Auld Lang Syne" where the year turns. The band were riding the success of At Budokan and Dream Police at the time. Sony presented the release alongside the group's farewell Japanese dates, Grand Cube Osaka on 29 September 2025 and Nippon Budokan on 1 October, their first visit in seven years after a 2022 tour was cancelled.
