Bloodstain made I Am Death within six months of forming — three classmates at a music school in Sweden started the band in the autumn of 2023 — and it was produced by Simon Johansson, guitarist in Wolf and Soilwork, with Stefan Norgren. Six tracks of fast, hard-edged thrash built on early-1980s Bay Area records and classic melodic heavy metal; the title song takes its line from the scene in Ingmar Bergman's The Seventh Seal where Death introduces himself. The band were named one of the best unsigned metal acts in Sweden in 2024. The EP appeared digitally on 22 March 2024, and Bickee Music issued the Japanese-specification import in a digipak (BKMY-1144) on 28 March 2025 with an obi and a commentary booklet. Linus Lindin sings and plays guitar, with Oskar Lindroos on guitar, Jonathan Thyberg on bass and Benjamin Norgren on drums.
