LINER NOTES
Between You, God, the Devil and the Dead is the sixth Avatarium album and the band's first for Metal Frontiers. AFM Records released it on 24 January 2025; King Records followed in Japan on 25 June 2025 as KICP-4103, with liner notes, translated lyrics and three bonus tracks. Guitarist Marcus Jidell, known for his work with Royal Hunt and Evergrey, leads the melodic doom metal band, and the contrast that defines them is intact here: a thick fuzz rooted in 1960s blues and psychedelia beneath the clear singing of Jennie-Ann Smith. Andreas Habo Johansson, another Royal Hunt alumnus, plays drums, and bassist Mats Rydström stays on from the previous record to hold the groove. The Japanese pressing adds three live recordings from a show in Leipzig.
