Aschen are a melodic black metal duo based in Pamplona, Navarre, in the Spanish Basque region, active since 2022. The line-up is Mikel Telletxea (vocals, guitars, programming) and Atauzz (bass), and the lyrics are written in both English and Basque (Euskara). "The Never Ending Search" is their debut album. It was recorded in August 2025 at Atala Studios in Bera, Navarre, and mastered by Toni Lindgren at Fascination Street Studios in Sweden. The cover was designed by Telletxea himself, using overlaid fingerprints to form a labyrinth. The band signed with the Italian label Wormholedeath in January 2026; the digital edition appeared on 13 March 2026 and the CD was issued worldwide on 31 July 2026. The Japanese edition follows on 28 August 2026 from WORMHOLEDEATH JAPAN as an imported pressing with Japanese packaging and domestic distribution, catalogue number BITX-1476. It carries the same nine tracks, with no Japanese bonus material. Two videos preceded it: a lyric video for "The Last Glow" posted on the label's channel on 8 February 2026, and a clip for "Azken Arbolak" — Basque for "the last trees" — posted on the band's own channel on 24 July 2026.
