Chapter V: The Ascendance is, as the title says, the fifth Art Nation album, and it pushes the Swedish band towards a heavier and more modern sound without giving up the melodies they are known for. Singer Alexander Strandell, guitarist Christoffer Borg and bassist Richard Svärd formed the group in 2014; Revolution followed in 2015 and brought three consecutive nominations for Gaffa-priset, Sweden's largest music award, then Liberation in 2017 and Transition in 2019 before they stepped back for a while. Frontiers Records brought them back with Inception in 2023. Ward Records issued the Japanese CD (GQCS-91590) on 25 April 2025 with translated lyrics and a commentary booklet, adding an acoustic version of "Lightbringer" as a Japan-only bonus track for twelve songs. "Set Me Free", "Thunderball" and "Julia" have official videos and "A New Beginning" a visualizer.
