From the Ashes of Deceit is the debut album by Aries Descendant, a melodic metal band formed by two session musicians — Jonah Weingarten from the United States and Nicklas Sonne from Denmark — who set out to join the force of heavy metal to the scale of film music. Sonne sings and plays guitar and bass, Weingarten handles keyboards and orchestration, and the record layers full orchestral arrangements over roaring riffs. Everything on it is built to sound epic, from the heaviest songs to the ballads, and the cellist Tina Guo, known for her work with Sabaton and Kamelot, guests on The Heart of the Forest. Frontiers Records released it worldwide on 18 October 2024 and Ward Records issued the Japanese edition, GQCS-91522, the same day, adding an orchestral version of Aflame the Cold as a Japan-only bonus track for eleven in all.
