Les Chants de l'Aurore is an album by Alcest, the French band that began in 1999 and now works as a duo: Neige on vocals, guitar, bass, synthesiser, piano and glockenspiel, with Winterhalter on drums and percussion. Black metal is where they came from, but post-rock and shoegaze went into the sound long ago and left them somewhere of their own. The title means "the songs of the dawn", and Neige has described the record as a return to Alcest's original idea — an exploration of another world, as the first album was. The opening "Komorebi" takes its name from the Japanese word for sunlight falling through leaves, as Kodama did in 2016. Nuclear Blast and Ward Records in Japan released it on the same day, 21 June 2024, the Japanese edition as GQCS-91470: seven tracks, about forty-four minutes.
